The 2025 NFL season just ended and let’s just say this season was one to remember. Many NFL fans came of the 2024 NFL season thinking the Chiefs were by far the best team in the AFC and the Eagles were the by far the best team in the NFC. Well these two powerhouses from 2024 didn’t have the type of season anyone expected. The Chiefs ended the season with a losing record and didn’t even stay in playoff contention for the first half of the season. The Eagles had inter feuds and fights that lead them to be incapable of fighting for the title in the 2025 season as they were eliminated in the first round. This led to the crowning of two new teams in the NFC and the AFC. These two teams were the Patriots and Seahawks but really it could have been anyone. Throughout the 2025 season there were many teams that shined and sparkled throughout the year but there was not a dominant driving force like in the past. The Patriots road to the superbowl is not one many will ever have again. They had the weakest strength of schedule in the NFL and placed second in the AFC. Then they took on the Patriots and they faced a beat up Texans team that had one of the worst playoff performances of the decade. Then they went on to take on the Denver Broncos. The Denver Broncos were the one seed coming into the playoffs and fought off the Bills in a crazy overtime game. Shortly after the playoff game against the Bills news broke that their starting QB Bo Nix had suffered a broken ankle during the playoff win. This gave the Patriots another chance to cruise through their schedule and they did make it to the Super Bowl with little to no competition and it was evident in the biggest game of the season. Saugus Student Zane Hurst said “The Patriots not only had the weakest schedule in football this year but also caught all the breaks any other year this team would have never even sniffed the Super Bowl” (Zane Hurst). The Seahawks on the other hand had to battle all year to make it to the Super Bowl. The Seahawks had to battle the Rams and 49ers. These three teams were arguably the best in the NFL this season and they were battling each other for playoff spots at every turn. The Seahawks went into the playoffs as the one seed after battling with the Rams for the spot until the last week of the NFL Season. Even though the Seahawks were the one seed heading into the playoffs there were many doubts on their QB Sam Darnold. Throughout the season Darnold had shown promising signs and looked to be the QB everyone thought he was coming out of college. But as late games in the NFL season unfolded Sam Darnold started to fumble under the pressure of the big games. The Seahawks walked into the first week of the playoffs against a 49ers team that was faced with many injuries. The Seahawks took them out with no problem and went on to face a Rams team who just squeaked out a win against the Bears. This game between the Rams and the Seahawks has been seen as the Super Bowl for the 2025 season as whoever won this game was going to be heavy favorites in the super bowl and for good reason. The Seahawks went on to win the game in a crazy down to the wire game. The rest is history. The Seahawks became the 2025 NFL champs and did it in a year no one expected anything from them. This season was truly a Sam Darnold redemption season and a Seahawks comeback for the years. The new question is will the Seahawks repeat or will they be a bust in 2026 and if so who is going to claim the title as best in the league?
