The Saugus High School boys soccer team has had a memorable 2026 season filled with hard work, growth, and school pride. The team showed determination and teamwork, making this season one to remember for players and coaches.
Coming into the season, the team set clear goals: improve from last year, play unselfish soccer, and win. The roster includes the captains Alec Turner, Ethan Murillo, and Lincoln Sullivan, and teammates Henry Castillo, Kaiden O’Brien, Brett Foster, Kevin Aride, Leo Bedrinana, Noah Hooper, Bryce, Arietta, Daniel Nilson, Anup Gamage, Jacob Blickhan, Dante Santamaria, Daniel Mondonado, Zach Rubin, Ivan Grgas, Brady Blankenship, Luke Constantino, Kieran Tirado, and Caden Kessinger. Led by a strong group of returning players, Saugus quickly proved they were ready for the challenge. Early practices focused on discipline , ball control, and communication, which paid off once the season began.
Throughout the season, the team faced tough opponents and close matches, like Hart and Valencia. Several games were won by just one goal, testing the players’ focus and resilience. Even in difficult losses, the team stayed positive and continued to push each other to improve. Key wins against rival schools like the Hart Hawks, boosted confidence and showed how much the team had advanced.
Team chemistry was a major strength this year. Players supported each other on and off the field, and leadership from captains and upperclassmen helped set the tone. Senior left back Leo Bedrinana, is very proud of the season so far, he is a dedicated and energetic player who always brought his team up. It didn’t matter if the refs were bad or if they were down a goal, Leo was always positive, bringing up team spirits. The defense worked together to limit scoring chances, while the midfield and forwards created scoring opportunities through quick passes and smart movement. Head coach Seth Groller emphasized discipline and effort, reminding players that success comes from preparation and teamwork.
Striker Daniel Nilson, is a junior starter for the team, he’s brought the team countless goals, dedication, hard work, and a light hearted energy. He describes this season so far as “memorable, and playoff bound”, he dedicates this season’s success to Coach Groller, and Joe Madick. Daniel is an energetic and enthusiastic player, always trying his best and doing what’s right for the team.
As the 2026 season comes to a close, the Saugus boys soccer team can be proud of what they accomplished. With incredible seniors leaving, experience gained and many players returning next year, the future looks bright for the program. One thing is certain: Saugus soccer continues to build a strong tradition of hard work, sportsmanship, and school spirit.
