President Joe Biden has given an executive order to permanently ban TikTok in the United States for good by the end of the week of April 5th. Last November,  there was a rumor that the app was going to be banned in America, but legal action and order was not completed until March of this year.

The news has sent influencers into a complete panic. TikTok stars known to be part of the “hype house” have now moved back in with their parents. They have resorted to having thoughts about finishing high school and even applying for a job. TikTok influencers who relied on the creator fund have been spotted working minimum wage jobs such as waiters and waitresses in preparation for losing their main source of income.

Countless influencers and TikTok users have been reported crying on live because they are grieving the loss of the app, claiming no other existing app grants them the same freedom, creativity, or grounds to make a substantial living. TikTok star Addison Rae tells her side of the story, “What am I supposed to do without TikTok? How am I expected to survive? Maybe I’ll go into the music industry.” Friendly reminder, the music industry definitely isn’t for everyone.

While some plan on finishing high school, others have set up Gofundme accounts hoping that their fans will donate. Unfortunately, most were unsuccessful because their fanbase primarily consists of twelve year old girls.

Not only have influencers been affected, but the 80 million Tik Tokers in the United States are extremely upset about losing the app for good. A Saugus student tells their story, “I spend up to eight hours on TikTok per day, without it I’ll have nothing left.” Losing the app means millions of teens will have to find something better to do with their time which seems nearly impossible.

TikTok has become the place where many go to escape reality and take a break from their responsibilities. Without it several feel as if they have lost their ability to express themselves and will even lose their close internet friends because of this.

Countless people have resorted to downloading new apps as an attempt to replace TikTok. Byte has been a popular alternative, but most deleted it within minutes because it just couldn’t compare. Finding ways to occupy the hours of the day during a pandemic is proving challenging to the contributors and audience of the TikTok app. With time on our hands, today’s youth is sure to deliver with an innovation that will fill our days and provide mindless hours of entertainment.
