
Mrs. Beydler is the American Sign Language teacher at Saugus High School. She also is in charge of the FCC (Filipino Culture) club and 3in1 club. Mrs. Beydler takes pride in making her classroom an available safe space for all students. She keeps her classroom open at all times to accommodate students who feel like they need a friend. She even offers her classroom to any student who needs water or someone to talk to, even during class time.
Mrs. B learned ASL in school, became an interpreter, and became an ASL teacher. Although she isn’t deaf, she has built a strong community of deaf people who love to come into class and interact with her students. ASL students get the most hands-on learning experience, and she encourages learners to attend ASL social events to strengthen their skills and connections. She goes above and beyond to make a seamless learning environment and takes time out of her day to give her students opportunities to succeed. She teaches all four levels of ASL, and helps students on the path to earn a seal of biliteracy at graduation.
She opens her door to clubs, and hosts FCC and 3in1 club. Her room is a safe space for FCC, giving the Filipino students at Saugus community. They bond over food and develop lifelong friendships and learn about their culture. Her inclusivity towards ethnic groups on campus shows her kindness, selflessness, and loving heart.
3in1 club hosts DFY in SCV meetings, spreading drug awareness to all students. They occasionally offer snacks to all students and meet to teach life lessons. This club serves an essential purpose of educating students on the dangers of drugs and alcohol. This can be a huge issue for students in high school, this club could save countless lives and prevent multiple addictions. By hosting this club, Mrs. B shows her genuine care for her students, and even gives up her free time for what she believes is most important: the wellbeing of children on and off campus.
Mrs. B deserves recognition for all the time and effort she puts into her students. She is one of the most selfless teachers on campus, and is the perfect person to go to in a time of need. All of her students love her, and she cares deeply for each and every one of them.
