At Saugus High School, few student-athletes embody the spirit of versatility and leadership like Max Guardado. Whether he’s dominating the basketball court, spiking the volleyball, or leading by example in the classroom, Max has become a cornerstone of the Centurion community.
Max’s athletic prowess is evident across multiple sports. In basketball, he played a pivotal role in securing back-to-back Foothill League titles for the Centurions. During the 2024–2025 season, he contributed significantly, including an 11-point performance in a decisive victory over Castaic.Transitioning to volleyball, Max’s impact was equally profound. As an opposite hitter, he was instrumental in Saugus’s dominant sweep against Nordhoff in the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs, where he recorded eight kills.
To go beyond Maxs athletic achievements, Guardado’s leadership and dedication have been amazing. And as a senior captain for the Varsity Basketball Team he has been a great source of inspiration to his friends, teammates, and coaches. He has been able to show great worth ethics, sportsmanship and his ability of being a teamplayer. His helpful contributions have actually not only enhanced his performance for himself and his team but it has also helped foster his sense of unity and the pride he has within his Saugus High School community.
In the classroom, Max is equally committed to excellence. He balances the demands of being a great multi sport athlete with a rigorous academic schedule. He has been able to maintain strong grades while managing two sports. His amazing positive attitude and drive had made him a great role model to all younger centurions, who are able to see all his great leadership and passion.
As I dug deep and interviewed Max Guardado, I asked him what sport he prefers, how has family and relationships got him through high school, and what’s his favorite moment during high school, Max responded by saying how he has always preferred basketball because he grew up with it from a young age and how he started volleyball later on. He then said how both his family and friends have supported him a lot during his highschool and sports journey and they have always been there for him. And to finish off he said how his favorite memory was playing two different sports, and how succeeding in both of them was so much fun as well as being able to do it with his friends.
So to wrap up, Max Gaurdado has had an eventful highschool career, but has enjoyed every last bit of it. From being a volleyball and basketball star, to a standout in the class, Max is a great influence for us all.
