A new movie came out! Sonic the hedgehog 3. The threequel to the sonic movie franchise released on December 20, 2024 with familiar and new actors such as James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Adam Pally, Jim Carry, and Keanu Reeves. Currently it has overwhelmingly high scores with a 4.7 on google reviews. There will be no spoilers in this article and only generalized plot summaries. 
Summary
In this film, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles find themselves dealing with a new powerful enemy, by the name of “Shadow”. The trio will have to join unexpected alliances with old and new people and find out about this new black hedgehog’s motivations and past while trying to stop him in the process.
Good reviews
For praise, movie reviewers claim the film was amazing with being a sonic fan beforehand as well as having appealing characters and visuals. Reviewers enjoyed the subtle references inside the dialogue and considered the ending scene to be very exciting and hyped them up to see what the next edition of the franchise has to offer in terms of world building and new characters introducing themselves. Some even consider it to be the best out of the trilogy so far due to these positive factors. Overall looking at the big picture, positive praise for the movie is common on reviews.
Criticisms
Although, there are a handful of individuals who found the movie less than appealing after watching it in theatres. The most common complaint being of the pacing being too fast for its own good and it would be nearly impossible for the characters to change or grow in such a short amount of time. As well as saying it’s unrealistic in some scenes with how talking it out with villains does not immediately resolve glaring issues the two people have with each other. Another commonly seen complaint being of how the casting was a bit wonky with the shadow voice actor since it didn’t feel authentic and felt like an imitation of the hedgehog instead of the actual voice of him. But, even the harshest critics of this cannot deny the humor and wonderful CGI of the movie, resulting in the high scores of the film online and overall with the majority of the audience.
