The Grammys were held at Crypto Arena on February 2nd, at 5pm pacific time. Many artists showed off their talent through performances expressing their songs and personalities. Some of the singers have attended the grammys in previous years, others making their first appearance this year. The nominees vary in their genres, but each was unique whether they received a reward or not.
Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish performed the song “Birds of a Feather” from her hit album Hit Me Hard And Soft. The background displayed a desert-like environment, dry plants, rocks, and mountains shaping the stages’ environment. Eilish is on stage with her brother, Finneas, and other band members, singing as the backdrop displays childhood photos of the singer to the audience. The fashion choices of the individuals is inconstant, some are wearing colored tees’, while others appeared in more formal attire. On stage, Eilish sings in a constant, upbeat tone, wandering around a little bit – otherwise standing in one place. The singer had a lot of the audience out of their seats, dancing to the impressive beat.

Chappell Roan
Chappell Roan was nominated for the Grammys for the first time this past year. For her first performance, Chappell performed “Pink Pony Club” from her album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. The background displayed is a midwest town, specifically a circus. The beginning of the performance reveals the signer sitting on a large pony, facing the crowd while singing the opening to the song. Background dancers are dressed like circus clowns, lassos’ swinging in hand. The dancers move in jerkish -almost glitchy- movements while the opening of the song continues. Soon, she is off the pony, waving a flag to the beat of the song with the background dancers. The song continues as Chappell slowly goes down the stairs, continuing to move with her dancers. Before long, a blinding light shines on stage and Chappell is soon in front of the pony getting ready to finish the song. As the lights begin to fade. Chappell won best artist later that night.

Raye
Raye was a nominee at the Grammys, her performance was her hit song “Oscar Winning Tears” from the album My 21st Century Blues. She appeared in a black, sparkly dress – as did the other females on stage- and the rest of the band on stage were wearing white tops with black pants. The background was fairly plain, just a black backdrop. Those participating in the event, were on a white, platformed stage, the overall vibe being elegant and formal. Almost like a choir, the individuals on stage stayed still except for an occasional sway to the music. The audience was seemingly mesmerized by the performance. The singer hit high notes with passion and experience, quickly winning favor with those listening worldwide.

Doechii
For it being the first Grammy award show Doechii has ever been nominated for or even attended, she did really well. Doechiis’s performance for Denial is a River began with a backdrop that almost looked like a fan, her being lifted over many dancers below her. She began in a grey outfit, the tux split halfway with two shades of grey and grey shorts. After she steps off the platform, the dancers begin to sync with her more as she sings. The backdrop begins to change as the dancers don’t sync up as much anymore and have their own spotlight. After much of this, her outfit suddenly switches to a bralette and what looks like underwear. The mood of the performance changes as she begins to move across the stage with a moving walkway shifting her in the opposite direction of the dancers. Issa Rae then makes her appearance, far away Doechii as her voice is just a cameo in Douchiest moment. this was not issa rae this was her dj that she goes on tour and features on many of her songs . The performance ends with a bang.
Doechiis’s performance expresses her personality and the unique mood she gives to a song. Her vibe and her way of exciting a crowd makes me feel she really deserved the Grammy she got. She moves with ease and appears put together and experienced, making her even more likable. On top of that, her speech she presented after winning her grammy “Best Rap Album” was inspirational and grateful.

Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina showcased her cute and ditsy pop-star personality through this performance. It began with her atop a light blue staircase in a dapper outfit, singing Espresso. Her bedazzled outfit was shining in the light, making her stand out. She walked down the staircase elegantly before falling into the floor, people suspecting it may stem from Goldie Hawns performance for her special. Eventually her outfit changes, her sparkly tux switching to a bedazzled baby blue bodysuit with navy blue jewel accents. Her background dancers joined her as she moved over to a new set, a baby blue porch. As she moves to the new set, she begins to sing Please Please Please. The back wall collapses and she jumps into her dancer’s arms as the song begins to close. Espresso starts again and she closes off the show with sparks.

The Weeknd
After much controversy, The Weeknd finally performed at the Grammys, the controversy even being mentioned before his performance. They went through the situation, explaining why the controversy sparked and what happened. Shortly after, he appeared on a lifted stage that looked somewhat like a pyramid. He began the performance with Cry for Me, the dancers emerging out of the pyramid. He sang with raw emotion and transparency, the dancers moving along with his voice. He wore what looked like a cloak with the dancer wearing completely red costumes. Soon after, more dancers emerged from the left and right side of the stage, to the sides of The Weeknd. Playboi carti came out and began singing Timeless, The Weeknd singing along with him. The performance was fun and hyped, a great way for The Weeknd to come back after such a long break off of the Grammys.
