After a long summer of heat days, in late September leaves start to change from greens to yellows and oranges. The atmosphere changes from humid to crisp winds and clouds erupt over the sun. As one may know, the fall season is appearing just around the corner. Along with the amazing weather, fall is the perfect time to spend time with your loved ones. When people think about Santa Clarita they think of an area that doesn’t have many exciting things to do. However, during fall, there are so many activities that vary from being indoors to exploring the beautiful town.
The first activity that anyone can do, is actually in your own home! Baking is a very popular activity during the fall season. If you want to bake but are stuck on ideas, simply search up on Pinterest some fall treats and follow along with the recipe. You can also buy pre-made treats that just require to be baked in the oven. One popular treat that can be found in any supermarket are the pillsbury holiday cookies. One can also bake while putting some fall music on or a spooky movie. Speaking of movies, you could also watch a movie at one of the local movie theaters during fall.
SCV has a few movie theaters but a well known theater is the Regal Edwards Valencia. This theater is located near the Valencia Town Centre. As the fall season approaches, more and more spooky movies will start to be released. Watching a movie at a local SCV theater is a perfect fall activity to stay warm and get in the holiday mood.
Another activity that is perfect to do during the fall season is going to Fright Fest. SCV is very well known for having Six Flags. When the fall season starts, Six Flags begins Fright Fest, which happens from 7 p.m-12 a.m. At Fright Fest there are the usual exciting attractions running but there are also more interactive activities added. There are many haunted houses and horrors included. If you don’t have a six flag pass or can’t get one, there are also a few haunted houses around SCV as well.
Last year, a new haunted house came out called the Dangling Carrots Grisly Garden. This haunted house is returning this halloween season on October 10th. Its location is 27420 Ave Scott, Santa Clarita. The haunted house includes a 13-room walkthrough house. It’s over ¼ of a mile and includes the scariest of jump scares. The haunted house was even made by real movie industry professionals making it the most detailed haunted house.
Another activity one can do during the fall season is pumpkin carving. Pumpkins can be found in most grocery stores as it gets closer to halloween but it’s more fun to put on a cute outfit and go to a pumpkin patch. Luckily for us, we have many pumpkin patches located in the Santa Clarita valley. One of the best pumpkin patches we have is at Gilchrist farm. Along with the beautiful pumpkin patch the farm holds, an annual Harvest festival where there are activities, animals, and food. This pumpkin patch has the best pumpkins for picking as there are so many different varieties.
If you are looking to do something a little more scary that truly explores the specialties of the Santa Clarita Valley you can go on the Haunted Hike at Castaic Lake. This interactive attraction happens from October 25-27th from 6:45-9:30. The attraction makes participants actually crawl, crouch, and interact with horrors as they hike through the experience. The attraction also includes many obstacles with blood, slides, real fire balls, slime, and gore cannons. If you’re interested in participating head over to castaiclake.com to register.
Overall there are so many different fall activities to do in Santa Clarita. Saugus Scroll interviewed Saugus High School student Jade Chan and asked her what her favorite fall activity was in SCV. Jade mentioned, “I love to go to Fright Fest at Six Flags with my friends. This year I am hoping to make a trip to Gilchrist farm to pick up some pumpkins and maybe have a photoshoot”.
