HISTORY
In 22-23, our varsity team ranked 2nd in the foothill league, and we lost 3/11 games to Millikan, West Ranch, and Camarillo. In years 23-24, our varsity team ranked 7th in the foothill league with 0/10 wins. During the 22-23 year, the team was extremely senior-led, the seniors were the rocks of the team and created a great season. The 23-24 season was a bit rough, the season was used for building up the team since the seniors had graduated and new people were coming along. This season is going to be interesting, the team has been working extremely hard and there are rumors this is going to be their comeback season. Our coaches and some of our team players have discussed how confident they are about this season. I have talked to a few people and here is what they had to say.
Coach Bornn:
What are you excited about for this season?
Every year offers the prospect of something new and exciting. This season is no different. Our players and coaches have worked extremely hard going all the way back to last November to build upon the lessons we learned to ensure we have a great experience this year.
What are your plans for the team?
Our plans do not deviate from year to year. We have a desire for each of our players to become the best version of themselves, utilizing our core beliefs of relentless effort, competitive excellence, and unconquerable character as a guide to achieve this. The end game is for our players to be champions for life.
What are you nervous or excited about for this season?
We are excited for the prospect of putting on display all the hard work our program has put in for the past 10 months. Only we know what we have sacrificed and committed to accomplish this year so by playing games in front of an audience, others will get to see this too.
What team do you think is your biggest competition?
Far and away the biggest competition is ourselves. The game dictates that we play an opponent but we never concern ourselves with the teams we are playing against. The competition is always versus the best version of us. If we can execute and play better than the best we have previously done, that is a victory for us.
What team are you most excited to play against?
All of them. Each game provides a unique experience for us to test ourselves. We embrace the competition because we know it makes us better to compete against a worthy opponent. We treat each game as if it’s a playoff game and that it may be our last.
Caden Daley-Milovich:
What position do you play?
Corner
Do you believe you are going to make it to the CIF?
Yes
How’s the team?
We are a lot better this year than last, I predict we are going to go 6-3 this year.
How long have you been playing Football?
4 years
What are you excited for this season?
Beating Valencia High, they are our biggest competition.
Good luck Saugus! Go Centurions!
