Ooooh, boo. October is right around the corner, and you know what that means. It means that it is the spookiest month of the year. Different people have their own ways of what they do on the day of Halloween. Children may go trick or treating, teenagers may go to parties, and others may just stay in, watch their favorite Halloween movies, and eat a bunch of candy.
Before the big day, families may sometimes decorate their houses with unique decorations early and take their kids trick or treating. Senior Emma Motherspaw talks about what she does for Halloween. “My family does decorate our house for Halloween by putting a spider up on the side of our house. Yes, I did go trick or treating and I loved it. I was Rapunzel and you could not get me out of that dress. I’ve always loved the Tangled movie. It’s just kind of been something special for me, and I watch it every year on my birthday. I love chocolate candy, so I like M&M’s or nerd clusters. I don’t know what I’m dressing up as, but it’ll be a couples costume with my boyfriend. I like to just hang out at one of my friends houses and then go trick or treating for a little bit. In my friend’s neighborhood, there’s a haunted house, and so we go trick or treating, go to the haunted house , and then go back and hang out.” Dressing up is an amazing way to have fun and decorating your house is a great way to honor the spirit of Halloween. When getting candy, it can be fun to eat it all at once, but it’s also important to be on the lookout for cavities.
On the actual day of Halloween, people have their own plans on what they do. Junior Jade Chan explains what she does, “I would always go trick or treating with my younger sister, but now that I’ve gotten older, I’ve hung out with my friends, sometimes having a group costume, but this year I’ll probably have an individual costume. Most of the time, no matter what, I end up having a fun time with my friends while my sister does the same thing. I usually like dressing up and then eating lots of candy and then hanging out with my friends. I think the best Halloween movie to watch would be Girl vs. Monster from Disney Channel. It’s a fun movie, and I really like watching it every year.” Having traditions and other plans can still make the holiday a fun time. If it’s staying in and eating a lot of candy, then that’s a perfect time to relax and take time to compress your thoughts.
Overall, this spooky season is an amazing time of the year. From hanging out with friends, to eating a bunch of candy, Halloween is a time of enjoyment and having fun with family and friends.
