
The JV football team is off to an awesome start this season with a 4-0 record. So far every game has been very exciting, with the players stepping up and working together. It’s really cool to see how much they’ve improved already since the first game. With sitting at 4-0 the team has shown grit, discipline, and a growing chemistry that carries them past every opponent so far.
Their season started on August 21 when they played their first game against Buena high school. Saugus came out very strong when they won 49-22. During this game the team got 395 passing yards, 369 receiving yards, and 125 rushing yards. According to a football stat website “Maxpreps”; the standout players of the game were Ethan Benner, Brayden Connelly, Tyson Favish, and Ryder Zarrick
On August 29, the Saugus JV football team played Oak Park high school. Saugus dominated the game and won 42-6. The team finished the game with 263 total passing yards, 263 total receiving yards , and finally a total of 137 rushing yards. From “maxpreps” ; the key players of the game this week were Wyatt Lopez, Milo Thomas, Jeremiah Caradine and Jordan Medina.
On Friday September 5th, the Saugus JV football team faced Camarillo High school. They kept their winning streak well and alive this week with a 34-14 victory. The team totaled 658 passing yards, 659 receiving yards and 262 rushing yards. Thanks to “maxpreps”; the top 3 players of the game were Landon Bartl, Brayden Connelly, and Cole Wethington.

On Thursday September 11, Saugus High JV football played against Hueneme HIgh school and dominated with a score of 41-20. The team had a great total of 192 passing yards, 85 rushing yards and 192 receiving yards. According to football website “MaxPreps”; the players of the game were Mike Garcia, Ryker Wixom, and last but not least Jordan Medina.
So overall this year, Saugus has been putting up strong numbers this season so far. On average, the team has about 87.3 rushing yards per game, around 219.3 passing yards per game, and 219.7 receiving yards per game. Altogether, that adds up to be around 306.7 total yards per game. The team also averages about 20.7 tackles per game. With these stats it puts Saugus on the map with a 4-0 score for the season.

- What is the biggest strength so far ? “This team is very good at executing the game plan and winning the turnover margin.
- What area needs the most work? “We need to work on the little things. As long as we can execute the little things correctly the big things take care of themselves.

- How has the offense performed? “The offense has performed extremely well and the expectation if for them to continue the trend”
- How has the defense performed? “ the defense has also performed extremely well and the expectation is for them to continue the trend
- Which players have shown the most growth? ‘Or entire offensive and defensive line”
- How has the team handled wins? “With class”
- What are your goals for the next few games? “ Goals have always been the same… Execute all plays. Winning is the byproduct”
With the season ready to continue for another amazing game on Friday September 19, The Saugus JV football team is having an amazing season with amazing strong stats and a perfect record. Both the offensive and defensive line have been playing at a high level and the players are stepping up to lead their teams to more victories. If they keep their focus like they have been, the little details will all come together and with the continuous hard work they have a great chance of making their winning streak 5-0.
