The MTV Music Video Awards, or the VMAs, has recently been hosted, with many artists globally making their appearance and showcasing their staggering performances. On Sunday September 7th, 2025, the VMAs had awarded many worthy artists who paved their way to the win. Artists such as Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Rosé, and many more had gotten their wins at the VMAs, with numerous having breathtaking performances.
As there are many widely known artists, there are some newer artists that also won awards, such as Sombr, KATSEYE, and Alex Warren. These artists also brought home wins, and had excellent performances.
The key highlight of this award ceremony was Lady Gaga winning the Artist of the Year and other substantial awards that night. Sabrina Carpenter was the winner for Best Pop Artist and Best Album for Short n’ Sweet . Ariana Grande won Video of the Year for “Brighter Days Ahead” and Best Pop. Rosé had won Song of the Year with “APT”. Alex Warren won the award for Best New Artist, representing the newer artists who became popular this year. KATSEYE also won MTV Push Performance of the Year with “Touch”. Many other artists won awards based on genre, with Sombr winning Best Alternative with his song “Back to Friends”.
Some noteworthy and stunning performances at the VMAs included Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Doja Cat, Sombr, Alex Warren, and many more. With these performances, they showcased their abilities as an artist to their full potential. There was a pre-show as well, with KATSEYE performing there.
Some other artists won awards regarding the genres, with a variety of different artists globally taking home their win. Best Hip Hop went to Doechii, Best Latin went to Shakira, Best Afrobeats went to Tyla, Best Rock went to Coldplay, Best R&B went to Mariah Carey, Best K-pop went to Lisa, and Best Country went to Megan Moroney. These artists from around the world had them handed an award for their great music and popularity.
A student from Saugus, Yamurai Usayiwevu, had her own opinion about the VMAs. Asking about how the VMAs are influential and helpful to acknowledge different artists, she commented “The VMAs are a great way to show and present the awards to hardworking artists and performers.” She also explained how “the ceremony is a fun way to show appreciation from fans.”
VMAs is a memorable award ceremony, with countless music artists winning various awards. People can gain fame, and can become the hot topic of the media with the VMAs, and outfits are not overlooked! Artists such as Doja Cat, Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, and so many more absolutely stunning artists took the spotlight in the best dressed and iconic makeup/hairstyles.
VMAs isn’t just musically based, it has so much to do with the media and the influence of fans all over the world. Social media can affect many award shows like this, both in a positive and negative way. As an influential award show, this allows fans to explore new artists that can catch their eye at this ceremony.
