Week one of the NFL season is over and that means fantasy football is in full swing but what have we learned after the first week of the NFL season? Fantasy football is a world wide played game but who should you play and sit and start in the weeks to come. This week we saw that Derrick Henry is still a premier running back in the league putting up eighteen rushes for one hundred sixty nine yards and two touchdowns. He would have had over thirty points if he hadn’t fumbled in the closing moments of the game. Staying with the running backs we look at Ashton Jeanty who played his first ever game this Sunday. Being a first round pick isn’t always easy and it especially won’t be easy for Ashton Jeanty who has to run behind the Raiders offense which is ranked at the twenty second best offense line in the league so far this season. Jeanty only reigned in twelve points for fantasy owners raising a red flag and asking themselves if Jeanty is the real deal. We will find out this week as Jeanty matches up against a Chargers defense which is well established and one of the best in the National Football League.
In the wide receiver core red flags were flying when it came to Malik Nabers. Malik Nabers who was one of the best wide receivers in the league last year. So far this year he has been dealing with multiple injuries and is even questionable for week two. He only came up with twelve points last week with seventy one yards on five catches. As his quarterback is an old washed up Russel Wilson we will see if Wilson will be able to get the ball to him for the remainder of the season. AJ Brown had one of the worst games of his career on Thursday night when he only received one point for fantasy owners. One football fan even went as far as saying that Brown looked like he was “asleep” (Gary). As Brown approaches his thirties fantasy owners pray that they did not waste their first round pick on him. But Brown will be tested this week as he faces an awesome defense in the Kansas City Chiefs. The wide receiver to count on after week one has to be Zay Flowers who has finally won the starting spot in Baltimore. He pulled twenty eight points for fantasy owners and was amazing against the Bills. He had seven receptions for one hundred forty three yards and a touchdown.
Now moving on to tight ends we look at Travis Kelce. Travis Kelce, who has been a big name outside of football pulled in quite a few points but didn’t play all that well. Kelce scored a touchdown but was only targeted four times. Of these four targets he only caught two. The touchdown padded his stats. With Patrick Mahomes only targeting Kelce four times meant Kelce couldn’t get open. This is a major warning for fantasy owners who might be nervous that instead of route running in the offseason Travis Kelce was hanging out with Taylor Swift. The tight end to play has to be Brock Bowers who was awesome in week one until he got hurt. With the Raiders offense looking legit with the likes of Geno Smith and Jacoby Myers more catches and Targets Might be coming for Brock Bowers. Although Brock Bowers is questionable coming into week two if he is available for the Raiders he is a must play putting up fifteen points in week one mind the fact he didn’t even play the whole game.
Now we look at Kickers and the only thing we can say is “Wow Boswell.” Boswell, who has been the best kicker in the league, made sure of that this week. He hit a sixty yard field goal which is only three yards short of the NFL record and made it by so much that many believe it would have been good from eighty. He led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a week one victory. Although he plays in a hard stadium to kick field goals, he went forty one for forty four which is ninety two point nine field goal percentage. Boswell is a sure start every week putting up ten points on average for fantasy owners. The shakiest kicker in the league had to be the kicker for the New York Jets. Nick Folk who is forty years old had trouble this week putting up ten points but barely making twenty yard kicks and was even blocked but called back due to an Illegal formation.
We wrap off the week one recap with the defenses. The must play defense is the Chiefs defense who got three points in week one against a great Chargers offense. The Chiefs defense is what has led them to the Super Bowl the last three years with the likes of big plays from Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce. They have been rated the best defense in the league and kept the Chiefs in the first game of the season. The Baltimore defense is the stay away they lost points and had a total of negative three on the week. After week one their defense has to be disappointed and flat. This is never good for a defense but the upside is they play one of the worst offenses in the league.
