As the fall season approaches, The Saugus High School girls varsity volleyball team is getting ready for an exciting season of competition and growth. The team is focused on pushing forward to even greater success this season. The team is full of hope and determination for this season. The experienced upperclassmen are ready to take the court and push for a high spot in league rankings. The Centurions are more than ready for a competitive year with help from their dedicated coaches.
The team has started the season off well by winning almost every game, except their match against Village Christian only down by one point. Every player has a different important position, yet all have the same mindset of readiness. The team is full of girls who have each other’s back off and on the court through thick and thin. No matter what challenges these girls face this upcoming season, Saugus High School will be right by their side supporting them. This season will portray how hard the girls varsity team has been working.
Varsity player Taylor Stires, whose position is an outside, shared her inputs about this season to come. Her hopes for this season is to come together as a team and make it to CIF and state. Taylor also stated, “Before going into a game I try to stay focused and bring energy to the team”. The team’s goal to keep their championship will be overall difficult but the team has a plan for that. Taylor shared, “To keep our championship we need to be aggressive on the court and never get too comfortable in a match because we know every team is out to win, and although we have a different team this year we have a good team chemistry”.
The varsity team’s biggest competition is West Ranch High School which is the same as last year. However, no matter how it turns out the team is more than ready to face victory or loss. Their winning record so far shows they have what it takes to compete at the highest level. By maintaining their discipline and determination they have a clear path to reach their goals. Every game is another opportunity to improve their skills.
By the team kicking off their preseason with an impressive winning streak it proves they are prepared for another dominant year. If they continue playing with the same passion, there is no doubt that this season could be one of their most successful yet.
