Holy cow everybody, UFC 319 was beautiful. To start things off, Khazmat Chimaev won by unanimous decision over Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight main event, He utterly overwhelmed Dricus with his unrelenting, brutal, grapple heavy approach for 5 rounds straight, as well as landing a record number of strikes for a ufc middleweight fight, including second most control-time in UFC history. Now for the other 2 main fights we have Lerone Murphy taking the win over Aaron Pico in the Featherweight division via first-round knockout, an insane clash between undefeated fighters, Murphy scored a highlight-reel knockout on Pico, after absorbing brutal, early pressure attacks from Pico, Murphy landed an utter perfect spinning back elbow that ended the fight right then and there. Now we have Carlos Partes KO’ing Geoff Neal in the second round and taking that win home, Prates delivered an incredible knockout finish with another spinning back elbow right before the first round ended. over Jared Cannonier, “MVP” showcased his MVP unique striking style, completely out-landing Cannonier in the first two rounds. Even though Cannonier did manage to take Page down in the 3rd round and control it completely, it simply wasn’t enough to sway the judges minds. Last but not least we have Tim Elliot winning via submission over Kai Asakura, This veteran flyweight Tim Elliot used his grappling to overcome the striking of Asakura, after a detrimental takedown in the first round, Elliot secured another takedown in the second round, and proceeded to lock in a mounted guillotine choke on Asakura for the victory.
Now for the preliminary fights we have Alexander Hernandez scoring a dramatic first round knockout of Chase Hooper with a buzzer beater punch. Michał Oleksiejczuk earned a first round TKO victory over Gerald Meershaert, next we have Joseph Morales winning “The Ultimate Fighter” flyweight tournament final by submitting Alibi Idirs with a second-round triangle choke, and finally at last we have Baysangur Susurkaev submitting Eric Nolan with a rear-naked choke in the 2nd round.
