As the next game of the season quickly approaches, let’s first talk about the first jv game of the season. In the first quarter two big plays were taken away by penalty by the end of the quarter Saugus ends in a tie 7-7 in the second quarter Within first 2 mins of the quarter #4 made made an amazing play of running the ball more than 20 yards before getting tackled.Later into the second quarter #4 had another big play of running the ball over 20 yards again ending in a touchdown with a minute and a half to spare before the half. On the kickoff the Bulldogs did not catch the ball resulting in a free ball and saugus failing to get the ball to make a play. With less than a minute left in the quarter the Bulldogs kicked a field goal By the end of the first half ended with some great plays thanks to #4 and a few not so great plays as well ending at half with a score of 16-14 Saugus down.
In the 2nd half of the game Saugus gained momentum. They scored 2 touchdowns before getting a turnover on kickoff and driving down resulting in a 3rd touch down. With two minutes left in the 3rd quarter Saugus made a great stop causing bulldogs turnover on downs Ending the quarter with another great touchdown and the extra point thanks to #4 once again . This caused the 3rd quarter to end with a score of 42-16 saugus in the lead against the Bulldogs. In the fourth quarter and final quarter the Bulldogs scored a touchdown and Saugus stopped the 2nd conversion. After that Saugus scored an additional touchdown holding the Bulldogs the entire rest of the game ending with a score of 49-22. By the end of the game Saugus can add the first game of the season as a win under their belts.
Thanks to an interview from one of the SportsMed students, Piper McGee, she said “that the game was pretty good. I mean they won, so I would say that’s a great way to start off . They did pretty good at the scrimmage last week, and then so it just really showed up this week. They did pretty good. I was shocked that they were still playing. It was a pretty good game.”
To finish off the JV football team has started what will be hoped to be a great season if they continue playing like this. With many more games left they have lots of time to improve some of the mistakes like the ones made during the first half. As the year goes on and they have more games and practices they are bound to have a great season. Thanks to the amazing offense and a great defense the team will have many more fantastic games with hopefully many more wins to come.
