It is that time of year again… Homecoming! Saugus High School has an annual homecoming festival, which took place this year on September 28th, 2024. Saugus’s homecoming has many games, food, music, and carnival rides. It is a great opportunity for students and friends to come together and celebrate a night of school spirit! In preparation, the school had a pep rally.
The Homecoming Rally
This rally took place during brunch on friday in the gymnasium. During the Rally, the school presented many fun activities. The school’s show choir performed, the dance team, and some interactive games! To start off, the national anthem was sung by Zaide Rihani. Next, show choir went up for their performance, earning cheers from the crowd the whole song! After show choir, the freshman, sophomore, junior and seniors nominee’s for homecoming court went on stage to perform their 15 second dances with a chosen partner!
The Homecoming Carnival
This weekend on Saturday, the Homecoming Carnival took place. The carnival lasted 7pm, through 11pm. It included many fun and exciting rides for students to go on! The Ferris Wheel, the swings, teacups, the Zipper and more. Along with rides, there were fun booths hosted by many of the clubs at Saugus. Students favorites included: Karaoke, popcorn, Polaroid cameras, cotton candy, face glitter and so many more! To participate in the booths, each student was given five paper tickets, which they would use in exchange for the activity. In addition, the homecoming court winners were announced. The homecoming king was Ethan Dionoisio, and the queen was Haley Noyes. Congratulations to the winners!
A Junior who attended the Saugus homecoming event, Gianna Cannistraci, let us know her input on the event. Gianna enjoyed the carnival, and she loved participating in many of the activities presented to students. When asked about her favorite ride at homecoming, Cannistraci says “My favorite ride was definitely The Zipper, I loved going on that one with my friends.”
Overall, the night of homecoming was a success. Fortunately, the homecoming carnival at Saugus is an annual event that will continue throughout the years. Incoming Saugus students, we hope to see you all in the continuing years of future homecomings!
