In this upcoming NBA season, something that has never happened before is occurring. The first father-son duo ever in the history of the NBA will happen! Not only will they both be playing at the same time, but they will also be on the same team, the Los Angeles Lakers. Lebron James is a 4-time NBA champion and a 3-time Olympic medalist. He started playing in the league in 2003 when he was just 18 years old. He has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and currently seems to be finishing his career at the Los Angeles Lakers. He has broken tons of records and overall has made a huge impact on the league and the entire game. Now going into the 22nd season, his son Lebron (Bronny) James Jr. will be joining him. For the last couple of years, LeBron has been discussing the idea of his son joining him and has been met with lots of controversial feelings and opinions from the sports world on this topic.
LeBron James was born on December 30, 1984, and his son Bronny James was born on Oct. 6, 2004, a 20-year difference!! During his childhood, he was raised in a broken household surrounded by lots of street violence. Luckily he always had basketball and sports to go to. In High School, he led his team to three state championships. This caught the eyes of many and right after high school, he was drafted to the Cavaliers. For Bronny, his high school career took place at Sierra Canyon High School. He had many eyes on him as he had already been all over the internet from his 8th grade basketball season playing for the blue chips. He was a gritty player and wanted to make a name for himself. During his time at Sierra canyon many celebrities came to watch him, Drake, Quavo and more! As college approached he decided to stick close to home and commit to the University of Southern California! Everyone was excited for him to have an electric career there until suddenly he went through cardiac arrest during a practice. This put the sports world into shock, everyone thinking it was over for him. But after a lot of rehab he was able to come back! Although he had an underwhelming college career he had declared for the draft!
This previous draft was the most hyped in a long time, with the coming of Lebron James son the media couldnt get enough! It was an exciting draft week and Bronny had cemented himself as the most talked about pick in the draft even though he went #55 in the second round. Although it wasn’t as high as most people speculated, in the end he was happy to be in the league and so was his father. Many eyes were on Bronny as he entered his first summer league game. This was a day everyone had marked on their calendars. Sports critics were ready, celebrities showed up, and fans at home were at the edge of their seats watching it nationally televised! The whole sports world was ready for the second coming of the James family and Bronny was ready for the challenge.
For his first game, he had 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Sadly, this wasn’t the best start considering how much hype was around him. After a couple of underwhelming performances, he finally had his breakout game! He had 12 points in a nail-biter against the Houston Rockets. This was a relieving moment for him, his family, and the whole Lakers organization! He continued to play well after that game and was starting to prove analysts wrong. Now that this next NBA season is coming, the new Prince of the James family will be making his appearance, and he and his father are ready to make history! As preparation for this season, the media was left on a good note after Bronny’s good play in his final summer league games. During the off-season, Lebron headed off to Paris for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Bronny was in attendance there to morally support his dad. The media has had a funny debate, on what Bronny will call his father on the court, which has brought lots of laughs to people.
