The long awaited debate between presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump has finally come. During the debate many interesting claims and statements were made from both sides making it very fascinating, and informational to de-code. Both of their ideas and claims for the future were intense and persuasive. Harris’ side was more focused on performance and ideas, while Trump focused on certain issues and his opinions. Of course the debate can have many sides and opinions, but in the end we are focused on what’s best for America and what the fair vote from the citizens are.
“Do you believe Americans can afford higher prices because of tariffs?”
Trump’s answer to this was: “They aren’t gonna have higher prices, what’s going to happen is China and all of the countries ripping us off for years.”
Harris’s answer was: “Well let’s be clear, the Trump administration resulted in a trade deficit which is the highest weve ever seen in America. Talking about Trump’s deal which China, he ended up selling American chips to them to help them modernize and improve their military.”
“Why did the administration wait until 6 months before the election to act, and would you have done anything differently for president Biden on this?” (A question for Harris)
Harris’s answer to this was: “I’m going to invite you to attend one of Donald Trump’s rallies cause it’s a really interesting thing to watch. You will see during the course of the rallies he talks about fictional characters…He will talk about windmills causing cancer and what you will also notice people start leaving his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom and I will tell you one thing he will not talk about, and that’s you.
“Mr. President, is there anything you regret doing on that day?”
Trump’s answer was: “You just said a thing that isn’t covered peacefully and patriotically. I said during my speech, not after. Peacefully and patriotically and nobody on the other side was killed.
(Question had to be repeated because Trump did not answer)
Trump’s second answer was: “I had nothing to do with that other than they asked me to make a speech. I showed up for a speech. I said ‘‘I think it’s going to be big’”and I went to the mayor of Washington Dc and I said “‘you know this is going to be a very big rally’” and again it wasn’t done by me it was done by others.
“Yeah I watched the debate with my parents. It was really interesting to see what they had to say for themselves and really intriguing hearing about what their plans for the future we’re gonna be,” said Saugus Freshman Mya Gaudio, “While watching many different sides and opinions were said and honestly to take it from like, and outside point of view it was really fascinating hearing both of their thought processes.”
The final vote day will take place November 4th 2024. Until then, more statements and arguments will be made. There is a ton more to unpack from the debate video so I would suggest watching the whole thing for yourself and taking your opinions and claims for yourself. On the other hand, I hope that our future president does great things for our country.
