This week’s club spotlight is the FCA Club! The FCA Club stands for Fellowship of Christian Athletes and they want to help put two passions together: faith and athletics. This club aspires to help athletes grow their relationship with Christ and to share their knowledge. From getting to know what they believe in to getting an interview with someone from the cabinet of the club, we will get to know more about this amazing fellowship on the Saugus Campus!
The FCA Club strives to bring athletes closer to Jesus Christ while also helping them to lead others to do the same. This club believes in many things in the Bible, and these are some of their main beliefs: They believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). Believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men (and women), regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. (John 3:16; John 5:24; Titus 3:3-7). The resurrection of both the saved and the lost, that they are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation (Matthew 25:31-46, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). They also believe in the unity of believers in Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:1-4).
In an interview with Charlie Hilstein, a sophomore apart of cabinet in the FCA, she says that the FCA has been around for quite some time, “FCA is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a club that’s been around for decades aiming to create a community among Christian athletes to inspire their classmates and teammates.” In the first meeting of the year the Club did many things, Charlie Hilstein says “ The first meeting of the year consisted of the cabinet members taking turns giving quick messages based on scriptures that we received on the bottom of our In n Out bags, wrappers, and cups. We then played a few games and closed out in prayer.”
The FCA club alway enjoys their meetings with fellowship, fun, and food. The meeting starts with a message from a pastor or a youth group leader, then there is fun games to play while eating food that is brought by the advisors and people apart of the cabinet. The club always meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at lunch in Q-1715. Anyone from any sport can come in and talk about their faith or get to know more about Christ, if you are interested in FCA you can email Mrs.Heilstein or scan the QR code on the flyers around campus!
