The Met Gala this year was located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibit for this year was “ Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” The guests that attended this event, showed up with outfits that met the theme which was “The Garden of Time.”

The Met Gala is a glamorous annual event held in New York City. It’s a fundraising benefit for the museum’s public Costume Institute and marks the opening of its annual fashion exhibition. The event brings together celebrities, fashion icons, and influential figures from various industries to showcase extravagant and unique fashion looks that align with the theme of the exhibition. It’s known for its red carpet, where attendees showcase their creativity and interpretation of the theme. The Met Gala has become a highly anticipated event in the fashion world, often setting trends and making headlines with its stunning and avant-garde fashion moments.
Guests & Hosts:
Gwendoline Christie an actor, La La Anthony a producer and actor, and model Ashley Graham co-hosted the carpet in 2024. Emma Chamberlain had also returned as Vogue’s special correspondent to interview some of the biggest stars at the Gala. Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu who were in Charge of the Costume Institute, had also added that the exhibition will be shaped around three main “zones” which included Land, Sea, and Sky. They pay tribute to the natural world. The hosts were Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth. The guest list is top secret until the evening before the event. Some of the biggest names in the business regularly attend who include Beyoncé, Gigi Hadid, Madonna and Rihanna. More often than not, designers attend with their muses: think Marc Jacobs and Kate Moss, or Nicolas Ghesquière and Emma Stone. The event usually hosts around 450 attendees, welcoming stars, young creatives, and industry paragons each year.

Kim Kardashian, shocked many people with the outfit she attended the Gala in. She showed up in a sheer Margiela by John Galliano dress with a lace train featuring leaves and floral accents. Kims icy bleach-blonde hair perfectly accented her silver dress, as she played down the rest of the look by wearing natural waves and subtle makeup. She also bundled up with a simple gray shawl. The most eye-catching part of her outfit was her silver corset, which gave her a drastically tiny waist. At one point, Kardashian even appeared to get help from attendees to make her way up the steps as a result of the constraining dress.

While asking people about watching this 2024 event, we were able to get insight on it. Lusine Shahverdyan, a Saugus Student, said “while watching the Met Gala this year, It was interesting seeing the outfits being worn by the guests.” Eliana Ghareeb, who is also a Saugus student, said “seeing photos of the event was fun to look at.”
