The driver who drove Deputies on a short rapid pursuit through Canyon Country was arrested Tuesday evening. The driver was in a taken silver pickup truck out of Lancaster, and arrived at speeds up to almost 100 mph on surface roads nearby.
A Deputy moved toward the vehicle on Palmdale Street, and the suspect endeavored to run the Deputy over. The suspect then, at that point, escaped southward on Route 14 until leaving in the Canyon Country region on surface roads. The suspect likewise crashed into a CHP vehicle during the pursuit. Police expressed utilization of power was utilized to confine the suspect.
Before the suspect was arrested he tried to flee the scene by running into a shopping center in Canyon Country. Once the suspect was fleeing on foot many deputies and CHP Officers rushed to the location where the suspect was fleeing the scene on foot. They were able to safely apprehend the suspect and take him into custody with no resistance taking place; he was then taken and booked into the LASD Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station.
I interviewed Saugus Student Lorenzo Rivas and he had to say, “ I skipped school that day because I did not feel good so me and my mom decided it would be a good idea to go to Costco. While we were driving to Costco I noticed many sirens and lights coming into our direction. I stopped and looked and saw many Law Enforcement Officers chasing someone very close to us going at pretty high speeds. While I didn’t see the end of the altercation as the chase just passed us by, I later saw the news article and was very pleased to hear that in all of this nobody at all got severely injured because at the speeds that I saw everyone going I thought that was going to end much worse then how it did.”
Hopefully at the end of this whole situation the owner of the car who was stolen gets repaired and returned to the rightful owner and thankfully nobody was hurt or injured at all severely in this situation.
