A rookie named Haiden Deegan, Motocross legend Brian Deegan’s son, has won the world’s first super motocross championship. He is 17 years old and this is his first year professionally riding, also known as his rookie season. Haiden won the championship with a total of 157 points.
Haiden Deegan was born January 10, 2006. He began riding at the young age of 3. He learned to do a backflip on his bike at 10. He then began professionally riding in only August of 2022 when he was 16. His first race was at the Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville. Many people doubt Haiden Deegan and his ability as a rider. The majority of their opinions are that Haiden is only known and wins because of who his father is. When asking Saugus senior Gavin Hagen his opinion on Haiden Deegan he said, “He’s okay, he’s fast on the bike, I could smoke him though”. However, when asking Castaic High School Freshman Kade Dasner he said “Personally I think he is sick and it is crazy how far he made it in moto.”
Haiden’s fan base includes a lot of teenagers, mostly being boys. But his fan base also includes fans who are also fans of his father. A lot of the time before racing, fans will come back and try to get autographs from Haiden. Some who are older bring Brian’s old jerseys and gear from his racing days.
Brian Deegan became a pro supercross rider at the age of 17, which was in 1997. He won the 125cc main and ghost rode his bike across the finish line. Ghost riding means to leave a vehicle while it is still in motion. Brian Deegan suffered an injury in 2004, at the Winter X Games due to crashing while attempting a twisting backflip 360. He broke his femur and both of his wrists. This injury did not stop him, he made a return and placed 6th at the Summer X games in 2004, six months later. Later, in 2009 Brian switched to four wheels with off-road racing.
The Deegan family has their own YouTube channel called “The Deegans”’ where they have filmed and posted all of Haiden’s races, and all the siblings accomplishments and just their life. A video that was posted on September 29, 2023 shows a 10 year timeline of all of Haidens races and riding. In my own personal opinion and also as someone who is a fan of the Deegan’s I believe that Haiden is not only on these podiums because of his father, Brian Deegan. Haiden has a lot of experience and people who have helped him get to where he is today, Brian also has said numerous times that he doesn’t care what his kids do and is not trying to make them like him.
The Deegan name lives with great honor and still has not been forgotten, all the family continues to make an impact in the supercross and NASCAR world.
