Cereal is a staple in the traditional American breakfast, so it makes sense for the administration to be easy, on-the-go snacks. This is why the invention of the cereal bar was created, for ease of breakfast. The cafeteria at Saugus High School offers three cereal bars, including a CocoPuffs, Golden Grahams, and a Trix bar. The latter is one of the most fantastic cereal bars ever mass-produced by mankind.
The Trix bar is based on the Trix cereal which, if you are unfamiliar, is very similar to the “Oops, All Pebbles” version of Captain Crunch. If you don’t know what that is then imagine Fruit Loops as spheres, and if you don’t know what Fruit Loops are, I can’t help you. For the Trix bar, they combine the original Trix balls with an oat mixture so it’s not just chemical fruity goodness, and instead has some “nutrition.” Because all of us know that everything that comes out of the cafeteria is 100% nutritional and delivers all the sustenance that growing teens require.
The beloved Trix bars were seldom seen last school year (2022-2023), only showing up at random periods of time during the school year. Sometimes they would be on the breakfast menu for a month and disappear without anyone saying anything. Personally, I thought that this would continue into this year when during the first couple of days of school there was no sign of the delicious bars. When, on, Aug 11, 2023 They were there glistening in the window of the cafeteria, the Trix bar. It was as flavorful and soul-cleansing as ever.
However, I hope they stay in that window and don’t randomly disappear and reappear as they have been. Regular options at the cafeteria would be a welcome addition, especially considering that cereal bars are an easy, on-the-go snack, as opposed to the traditional cereal the cafeteria offers which is much less user-friendly and takes more effort to consume.
When I asked Kat, (Katrina York, 12th grade) what she thought about Trix bars she said “Trix is good.” So, if that’s not all the conclusive evidence you need to want to go out and get a bar then I don’t know what is, short and straight to the point, everything you need to know about it.
The bringing back of the Trix bar is so important because it might be the beginning of a constant breakfast menu. Seeing as how they were mostly missing last school year. However, seeing how they were recently reinstated at the beginning of this school year, it could mean a permanent spot on the cafeteria’s breakfast. At least I hope so. If you haven’t already tasted these delicious treats, go to the cafeteria in the morning and get one. It might be one of the best things you’ve ever gotten from the cafeteria.
