After five years, the first time since 2016, the Saugus High School marching band and color guard has made it to the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association or SCSBOA Championships once again.

With a lot of hard work and dedication the band’s show, entitled Noc-Turn, has risen up to the top 12 of 14 different bands in the same division. Not only was this the first time that the band had competed in five years but they also were in a higher division ranking in 4A. The division ranking is based on how large the band is,1A being the smallest and 6A being the largest, not including the color guard. In previous years the band had been ranking in the 3A division. The band had competed in six competitive competitions and one friendly competition before they went to Championships.

The marching band and color guard started working on their show in late July and continued through the school year.  They met for the first period and continued through second period every morning. Pieces in this championship show included ”NOC-TURN”, “Turning Tables”, and “Moon River”.

The marching band/color guard was competing against 11 other bands for the title of champions. This competition was on  Saturday  November  20th, 2021 at Ramona High School in Riverside, California. The band got 6th place; higher than any other score they had gotten in previous years.

The marching season is now over and the concert season has now begun.
