Top Ten Shows and Movies on Netflix

Netflix had many high ranking television shows and movies, Firefly Lane (above) was their highest.

During quarantine, many people have found their way to new shows and movies. If you’re not sure what to watch next, Netflix has a variety of shows and movies to choose from, whether action, comedy or drama, there’s one for you. Many Netflix watchers have noticed that everyday there are 10 shows and movies that are recommended. 

As of February 9, 2021, “Firefly Lane”, “The Sinner”, “iCarly”, “Bridgerton”, “Cocomelon”, “Jenni Rivera: Mariposa De Barrio”, “War Dogs”, “Malcolm and Marie”, “All About the Benjamins”, “Go, Dog. Go!”  are the top ten on Netflix. 

  1. “Firefly Lane” starring Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke, follows Tully and Kate’s friendship as they tackle life in their 40s. Best friends since their teenage years, they go through the ups and downs together with an unbreakable bond. When traumatic events are brought back up, it tests their friendship.  
  2. “The Sinner” takes place in a small town in New York where a detective searches for the answers to intricate crimes while fighting with his own demons. This show is starring Jessica Biel and Bill Pullman. (2017)
  3. “iCarly” is everyone’s favorite 2000s show about Carly (Miranda Cosgrove) and her internet series made by her and her friends Sam and Freddie. iCarly came out in 2008 on Nickelodeon consisting of multiple seasons. However, only two are available on Netflix at this time.  
  4.  “Bridgerton” is a series inspired by Julia Quinn’s novels. Bridgerton takes place in England during the early 1800s  and surrounds the Bridgerton siblings as they navigate romance in the high society of England. 
  5. “Cocomelon” is a children’s learning show where you can learn your letters, numbers and sounds with J.J. including fun nursery rhymes and music. “Cocomelon”  is said to have been released on Youtube prior to Netflix during 2006 to give children free access to learning tools. 
  6.  “Jenni Rivera: Mariposa De Barrio” focuses on the main character Jenni Rivera (Angelica Cleya) and her life’s big turning point from being a teen mom while living in an abusive household  to a Mexican  American singing sensation. (2017)
  7. “War dogs” is a comedy starring Jonah Hill.War dogs” is about a massage therapist who teamed up with a childhood friend dealing weapons around the world. He gets in over his head when he finds out how shady the business can be. (2016)
  8. “Malcolm and Marie” starring Zendaya and John David Washington is a drama about a filmmaker and his girlfriend and their tension filled relationship that pushes them to a “romantic reckoning”. 
  9. “All About the Benjamins”  is an Action-Adventure movie starring Ice Cube, Mike Epps, Tommy Flannagan and more. This movie is about a bounty hunter and a conman finding stolen diamonds and winning a lottery ticket  all in the midst of a heist. This movie was originally released in 2002. 
  10. “Go, Dog. Go!”, inspired by the children’s book Go, Dog. Go! by P.D Eastman,  is about two best puppy pals solving problems and saving the townspeople of Pawston during their day-to-day life. 

More recently, “Behind Her Eyes”  and “Good Girls” have taken over the top spots on the top ten list.
